WJHS 4th Grade Comes to Visit

The Waverly Junior High School 4th Grade class enjoyed a field trip to the Police and Fire Department on Friday, before seeing a movie at the MiDeGa theater...   Capt. Grant Gillespie, Officers Devin Elliott and Shaun Wilson, Records Clerk Laura Short, and Firefighter Jason Herndon gave the students a tour of the Public Safety Buildings.  Officer David Ross and K9 Axle did a K9 demonstration, showing the students how Axle is trained in apprehension and handler protection.  Firefighter Jason Herndon played the role of the "bad guy" in the demonstration.

At the fire hall, the students got to see all of the firefighting equipment and vehicles.

The students enjoyed lunch with us, and 911 Director Bobby Brown helped by grilling hot dogs for everyone.  We enjoy the visit each year and were impressed by the great questions asked by the students!
