We appreciate your interest and hope you visit us here often. This site will provide you with a variety of information about our Department, its outstanding personnel, programs, and a means for you to contact us. We hope you find this information useful in getting to know us better.
The Waverly Department of Public Safety combines both Police and Fire services into a unified organization with the goal of providing the highest level of professional public service to our community. Every police officer is cross-trained as a firefighter and is ready to respond to any emergency regardless of nature. Our unique and diverse force incorporates modern technology and comprehensive training techniques to enhance the department’s overall effectiveness while continually striving to meet the challenges of the future.
When responding to incidents involving fire or rescue the Department’s full time public safety professionals are supported by the “on call” division of the Fire Service. This division is comprised of key members of our community that are dedicated to public service and firefighting. Although the non-traditional concept of combining police and fire services is not common it has proven to be very effective here in Waverly. We boast one of the lowest crime rates in the state while maintaining one of the highest percentages of cases solved. The Insurance Service Organization (ISO) fire protection rating has improved to a Class 4 which is much better than the national average.
We have always maintained the attitude that our team of Public Safety Professionals should strive for excellence in all that we do. Waverly, Tennessee is an outstanding place to live, work, and raise a family and our citizens and visitors deserve the best. We encourage you to enjoy interaction with the Department through our community based programs and we always welcome your thoughts, comments, and concerns.
